Extractive Industry Transparency Initiative and the Resource Curse 

Extractive industry transparency initiative is considered as a global standard to promote the accountable and open management of extractive resources. It mainly focuses on addressing the main issues in the mining, oil and gas sectors (Azerbaijan Validation, 2016). On the other hand, resource curse is considered as a paradoxical situation in which countries with non-renewable resources experience large growth or even economic contraction. The main objective of the Liberia EITI is to assist in ensuring that all benefits due to the people of Liberia and government on account of the exploitation or extraction of the mineral and other resources of the country. EITI of the Liberia manages a broad coalition of stakeholders and also manages a body of multi-stakeholders by keeping in mind all the rules and regulations fixed under the LEITI Act 2009. EITI of Liberia is running by a government body known as the Multi-Stakeholders Steering Group (LIBERIA EXTRACTIVE INDUSTRIES TRANSPARENCY INITIATIVE, 2009) The EITI act of the Liberia formulated a structure mandate for the every function of the EITI at the national level. This group includes different members such as minister of finance, energy, lands, mines, internal affairs, and the different types of civil societies. Minister of finance is considered as the head of the group who is responsible for every decision of the group (Strauss, 2015). The EITI of Liberia also has some different secretariat that is formulated, supported and associated with the group. the members of the group mainly serve only for three years.
