FAQs

What if I have a limited budget?

The graphing calculator and the ALEKS access code (about $100 each) are the two expenditures required for this course. Fortunately, the Golden West College STEM Center rents graphing calculators to enrolled students. To check one out, bring a photo ID. Calculator assistance is also available through campus initiatives like EOPS. You can sign up for a ten-day free trial using the Financial Aid access code if you are waiting for a paycheck or financial aid before purchasing the ALEKS access code.

How much more time do I need to devote to class?

You should spend a minimum of 15 hours per week doing homework assignments, work through lecture note problems on your own at home, view videos, create and take practice quizzes and exams, and attend tutor Zoom sessions, among other things.

Is there anything else I can do for additional credit?

Extra credit is a rare case, although your instructor will give it out on occasion. Every student enrolled in the course receives the same number of class points and extra credit possibilities. In that instance, one student cannot be assigned an additional credit assignment that is not available to other students.
