TEACHING OUTLINE

This is a completely online course. This course is taught using the textbook that is necessary: Criminal courts: A contemporary perspective, 4th edition.

The professor will assign weekly discussion questions from the necessary material for a period of ten weeks. Each weekly discussion question will be posted on the Discussion Board by the lecturer, and students will be obliged to respond to the question in writing.

Weekly discussion topics will be based on certain chapters in the course. Students are required to draw their answer to a discussion question from the assigned weekly reading associated with the discussion question (see weekly schedule below).

On Friday of the week of each discussion assignment (except for Week 13 during which the Discussion Board will open on Thursday, April 14), Students will have one day to present their written discussion on the Discussion Board. For further information, see the Assessment section below.

Discussions posted elsewhere other than the Discussion Board will not be graded or considered for grading. Even if the post is blank, just the first one will be assessed. 2, 3. TWO QUIZZES: TWO quizzes will be given. Multiple-choice questions will be used in the quizzes, which will be available on Blackboard under the menu item: Quizzes/Exams. The first quiz will cover chapters 1, 2, and 3 of the textbook. Chapters 7, 8, and 9 will be covered in Quiz 2. Students will have one minute to answer one question for each of the two quizzes. Blackboard will be open from 9 a.m. to 11.30 p.m. on the day of each quiz., respectively. It is strongly encouraged that students take the quizzes on the stated day and time. 4, 5. TWO EXAMS: One mid-semester test and one final exam will be given. Multiple-choice questions will be used on both tests. Students will have one minute to answer one question on the mid-semester test. The amount of time allotted by the university for the final test will be applied to the exam. Chapters 1–6 will be covered in the mid-semester test. The final exam will be comprehensive, drawing from all chapters covered in the course. Both exams will be posted on Blackboard under the menu item: Quizzes/Exams. Blackboard will be open from 9 a.m. to 11.30 p.m. on the days of the mid-semester and final exams, respectively.
