Teaching Outlines
- This course is delivered entirely online. This course's instruction is based on the following textbook: 4th edition of Criminal Courts: A Contemporary Perspective.
- The professor will assign weekly discussion questions from the necessary material for a period of ten weeks. Each weekly discussion question will be posted on the Discussion Board by the lecturer, and students will be obliged to respond to the question in writing.
- The weekly discussion questions will be based on certain chapters from the textbook. Students must draw their solution to a discussion topic from the allocated weekly reading that corresponds to the discussion question.
- Students will have a one-day window to post their written discussion on the Discussion Board on Friday of the week of each discussion assignment (until Week 13, when the Discussion Board will open).

AJ 211 Introduction to Court Systems Assessment Criteria
There are FIVE different types of assessment. Below is a list of them. To prevent obtaining an "F," students are recommended to complete all assessment components.
- Ten Weekly Discussions: Each weekly discussion question will be based on the weekly reading assignment stated in the weekly schedule of classes and readings above. Each written discussion must be at least 110 words long. A score of 0 will be assigned if the word count and/or reading-specific requirement(s) are not followed. The Discussion Board will be open on Fridays from 9 a.m. to 11.30 p.m. before closing.
- Two quizzes: Two quizzes will be given. Multiple-choice questions will be used in the quizzes, which will be available on Blackboard under the Quizzes/Exams menu option. The first quiz will cover chapters 1, 2, and 3 of the textbook. Chapters 7, 8, and 9 will be covered in Quiz 2. Students will have one minute to answer one question for each of the two quizzes.
- Two Exams: One mid-semester exam and one final exam will be given. Multiple-choice questions will be used on both tests. Students will have one minute to answer one question on the mid-semester test. The amount of time allotted by the university for the final exam will be applied to the exam. Chapters 1–6 will be covered on the mid-semester exam. The final test will be thorough, covering all of the course's topics.
