Introduction
Group decision making is considered to be the participatory process where different individuals act collectively in analysing the problem or the particular situation, evaluate the most possible alternative course of action and select the right decision from the group of alternatives. The group might use different process to arrive at a particular conclusion and the decision taken by the members in the group are due to the effect of decision making process. Every group generally has a group leader and the group leader carries out the task on the basis of leadership goals. The effectiveness and the success of the group is directly related to the performance of the team members and thus it affects the success of the team (Lunenberg, 2010). This paper will highlight the decision making process of a group involved in. The different theories and processes involved in the decision making process in the group is also discussed in the paper.

Problem Situation
Chifley Business School is one of the leading boutique business school in Australia and it provides high level training and other professional experience to the students via post graduate programs and online courses. The institution is trying to increase its number of students across different countries and thus this will help in strengthening its conviction process. The group must also decide its leadership role and capabilities in such a way so that it can achieve these objectives in a quick span of time. As the institution does not use different modes of community engagement teaching learning processes, the people of different regions are not aware of the courses and thus the institution fails to gather the desired number of students although it has the provision of unique facilities, features and facilities.
Decision made by the group
There are 15 members in the group and 5 members are divided into three subgroups. This 3 subgroups are assigned with different roles and thus this will help in carrying out the decision making process in a better way. There will be three leaders in each of this five subgroups and the group as a whole will have a group leader who will assist the leaders of the subgroup and thus keep a track of the engagement process. This process of formation can also be linked with Tuckman’s process of group formation. In the first stage of the decision making process i.e. to increase the number of students in Chifley University, it is the responsibility of the team leaders to explain the motive to the team members and thus find out the most effective way in improving the student’s engagement. Care should be taken to check that the team members have understood the work process and they are not anxious of their work. It is also the responsibility of the leader to check that the goals, roles and responsibilities are clear and thus the members can carry out their work in the best possible way. In the forming stage, it is vital to check that the people work as a group and thus it will help in increasing the student engagement process (Bonebright, 2010).
On the other hand, the second stage in the group formation process is the storming phase and in this stage, the team members are pushed beyond the boundaries and thus they start their work. It has been found that in this stage, majority of the team members fails to do the work in the right possible way. As the team is divided into three subgroups, it is necessary to check that each group is aligned with different tasks and thus this will help in achieving the objectives of the group in the best possible way. This process is also necessary to identify the group work and thus check that there is no conflict among the different teams. The leaders must help the team members to remove the stress and thus help them to cope up with the different problems while working in the group. This is also necessary for the establishment of strong bonding process among the team members. In this case, while increasing the number of students for Chifley University, it is necessary to carry out the survey among the students and try to explain them the different courses and the packages available in the University. Each group will be assigned to conduct the survey across different regions so that there will be no conflict among the members in the group while gathering the students.
In the third stage i.e. the norming stage, the team members try to resolve the differences and thus appreciate their co-workers who are working on different topics and issues. It is also vital to take the help of the team leaders in carrying out the work in a better way. In this case, it has been found that there are three group leaders in each sub group and they are assigned to check the work done by the other members in the group. In this stage, the team members can also know each other in a better way and this will help in the process of socialisation. The leaders must also try to give constructive feedbacks to the team members so that they can carry out the task in the best possible way. The members must also try to make their commitment and work in such a way so that it becomes easier for them to check the progress of the work and thus develop new ideas in order to carry out their work. In this case, the members of three different teams are assigned with different tasks. The team members must carry out the survey by visiting the students of different colleges and universities in Australia to find out the reason for students flocking to other universities for pursuing the same course that is available in University of Chifley. It has been found that many students are not aware of the course that is available in University of Chifley and thus they go to other universities to pursue them. The students are not aware that they can also go for practical application of the courses and thus pursue them so that it will be easier for them to seek the job opportunity. On the other hand, the team members while carrying out the survey must also inform that the students will be able to carry out the task in a better way by opting online courses from any location (Bonebright, 2010).
In the fourth stage, i.e. the performing stage, it is the responsibility of the team members of the team members to work hard and thus achieve the goals in the best possible way. This will help in the improvement of the structure and the work processes of the team and thus help in the development of the team. In this stage, the team leaders will monitor the performance of every members who are involved in the team (Pelegrini Morita & Marie Burns, 2014). If the members cannot explain the different facilities that are provided by University of Chifley, the team leaders will take over the responsibility to explain to the students and this will help in increasing the number of students. If possible, there should be arrangement for special and demonstration classes for the students so that it becomes easier for them to get enrolled in the University by knowing the facilities and the provisions so that they can remain satisfied.
In the fifth stage i.e. the adjourning stage, the team members can reach a definite goal and thus they will be successful in increasing the number of enrolled students in the University of Chifley. The members by working for fixed hours of time will carry out the task in a better way and thus they will be able to carry out the process of organisational restructuring in a better way (Bonebright, 2010). In this stage, the tame members will also develop better working relations with their co-workers as well as other members of the subgroups and thus seek their help in fulfilling their desired gaols and objectives. The parents of the students who wants to get their ward admitted in University of Chifley can also collect the desired information from the team members and thus become sure about the facilities provided by the University without visiting or making extra efforts to know the norms and procedures.
Thus, the above mentioned process will help in the team members to take important decisions and identify the correct stage at which the team members are in. it is also vital to develop the structure and the processes in such a way so that it will be easier to review the performance of the team members and thus adjust accordingly in the team. On the other hand, the leaders must conduct regular review of the team and this will help them to know the loopholes of teach team and thus take the correct approach (Pelegrini Morita & Marie Burns, 2014)
Process undertaken by the group to reach the decision
According to Lunenberg (2010), it has been found that the rational model is considered to be the best approach in carrying out the decision making process in a better way. It will increase the optimum choice of the team members and thus they can also find out the desired alternatives according to their convenience. After identifying the problem, the team members also need to find out a solution to the problem and there must be provision for the recycling process if there is any difficulty in the group. It can be said that the process of decision making is associated with logical sequence. There are several alternatives that must be generated and thus this will help in the identification of the problem in a better way. It can be said that the process of effective decision making will help in identifying the problem in the right way and thus it will help in understanding the situation. Simon(2013) has stated that the process of identifying the problem includes proper surveillance of the external and the internal situation and thus this is possible with the help of gathering attention . The administrators must try to check that they are satisfied with the workers who are involved in the decision making process and this will help to carry out the task in a better way. There must be proper alternatives in order to solve the problem in the best possible way and the communication process must be strengthened with the help of different methods. The communication process will remove the gaps and thus it will help to take any decision in the right way.

It is also the responsibility of the group leader to help the students understand the complex processes in a much easier way so that they find attracted to join the MBA courses. On the other hand, the Chifley University also has provision for online programs and thus this will be better for the working individuals to pursue their studies along with their job. This brainstorming process conducted by the team members will also help in the generation of better ideas and thus evaluate the utility accordingly. The most important problem that is faced during the process of brainstorming is the ability of the individual to make better choices and thus help in taking important decisions. In this case, it can be said that there are certain individuals who might not be interested in taking admissions at Chifley University. However, it can be said that the process of electrical brainstorming is vital and thus it helps in carrying out the task in the better way. The team members might present the ideas in such a way that the students feel motivated to get themselves placed in the University and thus this will help in increasing the number of students involvement in this particular course (Xu & Da, 2010).
In certain cases, it can be said that the students might also make an inquiry before taking admission in the University for this particular course. This involves the process of decision making and thus there are advantages and disadvantages of these important decisions. It is also necessary to find out the potential problems of the students and thus assist them in their decision making. It is also essential to make sure that there are possible ramifications in the group and this will help in solving the potential problems. On the other hand, the group members can also adopt the process of nominal technique which is considered to be a structured process in the decision making. In this case, the group members will have to take comprehensive decisions of the different ideas and thus keep a list of alternatives to solve the problem in the best possible way. After taking important decisions, it is necessary for the group members to record their ideas privately and thus carry out verbal exchange of information with the clients. In this case, the 15 members who are involved in three different teams will carry out the task and thus make important decisions based on the evidences. This is considered to be one of the most important techniques taken by the members of the group and thus this helps in taking important decisions (Pang & Liang, 2012).

It can be said that the decision making methodology in the group is according to the principles and norms laid down by Tuck man’s theory. There are certain effectiveness of the decision making process in the group and thus it is affected by different varied factors. It is vital to make important group decisions so that the goals and motives are fulfilled within the stipulated time frame and it benefits both the parties. In this decision making process, it is vital to choose the members in such a way that they can influence the students to take admission at Chifley University. This will increase the number of enrolled students in the University and thus it is considered to be beneficial for both the University as well as the students. Moreover, the objectives of group formation will also be fulfilled in such case. On the other hand, it can be said that there are certain situational factors that restricts the students from taking admission and this might be due to lack of knowledge or other types of communication gap among the two mediators. It is the duty of the group members to assist and do proper counselling of the students so that they will be willing to get themselves engaged in the University.
It can be said that the decision making process is vital and thus it is considered to be a vital process for influencing other people in the group. It can be said that the first step in the decision making process is to identify the problem and then gather information for it to solve the problem.
